Salves

Salves are an oil-based herbal preparation for topical application. To make my salves I simply combine my highly potent herb-infused body oils with some melted beeswax. The addition of beeswax makes them solid at room temperature but easily melted with body heat for application. This makes them more convenient for travel as they can be tossed in first-aid kits, backpacks, and purses without worrying so much about leakage. Salves are also a good option if you’re worried about spilling in general. Keep in mind that exposure to heat, such as in the car on a hot day, will turn them into a liquid again which could not only result in leaks but will shorten their shelf life as heat breaks down oils and leads to rancidity.
